Mayo V Sligo Masters Tournament Final

Mayo Masters (All-Ireland Finalists) play the Sligo Masters for the Ruddy Cup in the Rice College pitch tomorrow (Saturday) at 1 pm. The Cup was donated by Bríd Ruddy (Clew Bay Hotel) in honour of her late husband Brian, who passed away suddenly in 1978. A native of Tubbercurry, Brian played minor football with Sligo prior to his arrival in Westport in 1959 where, on meeting and marrying Bríd, they established the Clew Bay Hotel, a business still thriving to this day under the management of his daughter Maria and her husband Darren, on James Street, Westport.
An ardent GAA and Mayo supporter, the Cup was played for on an annual basis between his native Sligo and Mayo until it lapsed around 1994. Michael Gavin, a regular member of the Mayo squad in the 70's and 80's, captained the Mayo team that won the cup in 1979.
Its revival should mark the beginning of a new era of Masters football and hopefully will become an annual tournament fixture between Mayo and Sligo.
Kilmeena will be well represented tomorrow when once again, Mayo team captain Pat Mulchrone, will lead his players onto the pitch in the grounds of Rice College. He will be accompanied by Declan Ryan, Kieran Hastings, Darren Madden and James Prenty, familiar names around the Kilmeena GAA dressing rooms.

All Ireland Final - Club Ticket Allocation

We have received notification from Mayo County Board as to our All Ireland Final ticket allocation.

As a junior club, Kilmeena GAA will receive 30 stand and 30 terrace tickets. As part of the full allocation there will be two restricted view at €40.00 per ticket per club. They are stand/seated tickets at the rear of the Hogan Stand Upper. (Similar to 2016)

As always with All Ireland tickets, demand outstrips supply, so we ask that only those who are genuinely interested in travelling to the game apply for tickets. Every year, requests are made for tickets and the club officers do their utmost to ensure all requests are met. A lot of work goes into securing tickets for club members and it is very frustrating when "hard got" tickets are not then taken by those who requested them.

Child Protection Course

The club is running a 'Child Protection' course in the clubhouse on next Tuesday 15th March at 7:00pm. All team Managers, and anyone assisting with underage teams (children up to 18 years) boys or girls are required to undertake this course. All new coaches, and anyone whose certificate has expired (they are valid for 5 years) must undergo this training. Please confirm attendance to John McDonald 087 2475733 or Trish Hogan 086 8281455.

Club Dinner Dance

The Kilmeena GAA Valentine's Dinner Dance was a great success last night and, hopefully, enjoyed by all who attended. 

Heartfelt thanks are extended from the club to those who made the event possible, especially the organising sub-committee. Thanks to those who provided prizes and to Mid-West Furniture and the Smyth Family for their continued sponsorship of our club person of the year award.

 Many thanks also to the Westport Woods Hotel, our guests Brian McEniff and Jason Doherty. Thanks to Brian Lennon and his Scór musicians for their musical interlude.

An event like last nights is only a success due to the work put in by willing volunteers, so we are extremely grateful to all who made the event possible.

Register to play for 2016

Registration for all players, of all ages, will take place on;

Wednesday, 27 January, from 8pm - 9pm in Fahy Community Centre.

Thursday, 28 January, from 8pm - 9pm in the Clubhouse.

Sunday, 7 February, from 12.30pm - 1.30pm in the Clubhouse.

All boys and girls are welcome to join our club. Any boys and girls who would like to play football are encouraged to come along to these registration evenings.

All Ireland Semi Final Replay - Tickets Update.

Anyone who has ordered tickets for the replay through the club will receive their tickets. Mayo County Board will fulfil all club orders.

Tickets will be distributed at the clubhouse as soon as we receive them, day and time TBC. Check Kilmeena GAA facebook page and/or website for updates.

Ticket Order Restrictions for All Ireland Semi-Final Replay

Please see below correspondence received from Mayo County Board;

"There are a few things that we need to be aware of over the coming 24 hours as club orders are coming in.

We have an allocation to fulfil up to 100% of club orders that were received for the drawn game.

Clubs received 95% of their total orders for the drawn game but this can be brought up to what was ordered initially.

As there are only two days to process Club orders, clubs should be aware that taking orders for amounts above what was ordered for the drawn game will not be possible.

At the moment tickets are not available on-line or in the usual retail outlets. This will have the effect of Club secretaries receiving orders from individuals who they have not received orders from for the drawn game.

Once we have received our Club orders, tickets can then be released on-line and through retail outlets so as to give the chance to Clubs to fulfil their orders first.

Realistically trying to process orders above the level received for the drawn game is not possible in the short time left to Clubs and ourselves".

Clothing collection fundraiser

The recent clothing collection held by the club raised €1,560 towards our pitch development.
