The First round of the u12 Summer league was played at home on Monday evening against Carras (an Amalgamation or Garrymore and Kilmaine). We had a strong squad of 27 players togged out.
Kilmeena layed down a marker in the first quarter by controlling the play and went in at the end of the first quarter leading by 0 - 4 to 0 - 1. While the second quarter was a more even affair in terms of play, but Kilmeena took their chances better in front of goal and lead by 2 - 5 to 0 - 3 at the midway point. We maintained our strength through the remainder of the game winning the last two quarters also. Given the warm evening and a number of injuries throughout the game and it was great to have such strength on the sidelines to bring in. All subs got a run and contributed to a great result. Defensively and midfield were very strong throughout, but we are going to make an extra effort in training in coming weeks to convert a higher percentage of chances in front of goal. Final Score on an enjoyable evening of Summer Football

Massive Congratulations to the Kilmeena U-12 boys who won Division 2 of the County summer league this evening by beating Knockmore in the final round. This victory ensured Kilmeena maintained their unbeaten record in this competition. Kilmeena travelled with a panel of 27 lads which all got game time. Two teams were selected and both games were played in parallel on a beautiful warm evening in the impressive Knockmore grounds.
The two Captains were Adam O Grady and Conor Kelly who both played leading roles on their respective teams. Conor’s team put in a fine performance with both sides tied at the end of full time on a score line of 4 - 09 to 6 - 03. The goals were scored by Stephen O Grady, Conor Feehan, Conor Kelly and Odhran Tieran.
Adam O Grady’s team played with slight wind advantage in the first quarter. However, the lads found it hard to get going and only for the efforts and scores of Colin Hastings they managed to keep it level scoring 0 - 03 to 1 - 00 at the end of the first quarter. Knockmore started the second quarter in blistering pace capitalising on some slopping marking in the Kilmeena defence outscoring Kilmeena by 4 - 04 to 2 - 02. The Kilmeena scores this time coming from Darragh Slattery (1-01), Jack Mulchrone (G) and Colin Hastings (1). The half time score read 2 - 05 to 5 - 04 giving Knockmore an eight point advantage.
At half time the Kilmeena lads were reminded again that the league title was at stake and references were made to the heroics of the Kilmeena U-14 team last Thursday evening where they turned around a much bigger margin. Some positional changes were made moving Jack Mulchrone into the forwards and bringing in the two resilient defenders, Donal Hastings and Rian Kilcoyne who both helped considerably in turning this game around. Rian back from his travels gave a wonderful display on how to defend with tight marking and great reading of the game. The defence now working as a solid unit kept Knockmore scoreless in the third quarter while the Kilmeena forwards started to play with scores coming from Evan O Donnell (2), Jack Mulchrone (3), Colin Hastings (1-02) and F Gibbons (1). It was unfortunate Finley Gibbons had to be substituted at the start of the second half after picking up a hand injury. Going into the final quarter the score line read 3 - 13 to 5 - 04, a 3 point advantage to Kilmeena.
With only the kick of a ball between them and with Knockmore having wind advantage the Kilmeena boys knew they had to give it their all to get the result and that is exactly what they did by outscoring Knockmore 3 - 05 to 2 - 01 in the fourth quarter leaving the final score line reading 6 - 18 to 7 - 05 in Kilmeena’s favour. Kilmeena’s scores in the final quarter came from Liam Moore (3), Colin Hastings (1-01), Jack Mulchrone (2-00) and Evan O Donnell (1).
Special mention must go to Colin Hastings with a man of the match performance. Colin touched every blade of grass on the Knockmore pitch this evening and encouraged his teammates at every opportunity scoring in each quarter with a massive personal tally of 2 - 07. Darragh Slattery excelled in the second half leading the way at midfield while Jack Mulchrone can be very satisfied with his hat-trick of goals and points.
The Kilmeena panel that were present this evening was;
Lorcan Coady, Brian Durkan, Conor Feehan, Cormac Feehan, Sean Gallagher, Conor Gibbons, Finley Gibbons, Colin Hastings, Donal Hastings, Charlie Hughes, Conor Kelly, Rían Kilcoyne, Liam Moore, Brian Mulchrone, Gavin Mulchrone, Jack Mulchrone, Cian O Brien, Evan O Donnell, Adam O Grady, Jack O Grady, Stephen O Grady, Joseph O Malley, Darragh Slattery, Dylan Staunton, Odhran Tieran, Harry Sherdian and Keelan Corcoran.
Well done to Knockmore for two good sporting games and thanks to all the Kilmeena support that travelled to the game.

Game 1 Kilmeena 4-08 Claremorris 4-03

Kilmeena U-12 boys played their second game of the summer league at home to Claremorris on Saturday evening the 25thof June. Claremorris travelled with a large panel of players which facilitated two 13 a-side games being played. The Captain for Kilmeena in game 1 was the reliable Jack Mulchrone who hasn’t missed a single game or training session since the start of the year. Kilmeena played against a strong breeze in the first quarter and did very well to score two points while their defence kept Claremorris scoreless. Kilmeena continued their good form in the second quarter leaving the half time score of 1-05 to 0-00. To Claremorris’s credit they came out after half time and with the aid of the breeze won the third quarter outscoring Kilmeena by 2-01 to 1-01. Had it not been for the heroic saves by Evan O Donnell in goal the story could had read very differently. Evan’s accurate kick outs coupled with constant talking to the backs ensured the defence stood solid. All in all this was a great performance from each and every one of the Kilmeena lads. However, special mention must be made for Colin Hastings, Ciaran Kilcoyne and Liam Moore. Colin started the game by getting Kilmeena’s first score and from there he put in a Colm Boyle like performance from one end of the pitch to the other. His spectacular full stretch blockdown in the 3rd quarter resulted in kilmeena getting a crucial goal. Ciaran Kilcoyne was in flying form up front scoring 1 -05 and would have had a higher tally only for the excellent Claremorris goal keeper. Liam Moore’s ability to read a game and turn over possession is a joy to watch. Again, in this game Liam turned over possession twice as many times as any other player on the field. During the final quarter both team scored 2-02 leaving the final score reading Kilmeena 4-08 to Claremorris 4-03.
Kilmeena’s scores came from Ciaran Kilcoyne (G & 5), Conor Kelly (G), Colin Hastings (1), Finley Gibbons (G, G), Jack Mulchrone (1), Liam Moore (1).

The Kilmeena panel were Evan O Donnell, Adam O Grady, Gavin Mulchrone, Jack Mulchrone, Liam Moore, Rian Kilcoyne, Finley Gibbons, Darragh Slattery, Daniel Kelly, Conor Kelly, Colin Hastings, Ciaran Kilcoyne, Donal Hastings, Conor Kelly, Conor Feehan and Joseph O Malley.
Well done to Claremorris for a good competitive game and thanks to all who came to support the Kilmeena team.

In in the second game, Kilmeena and Claremorris played out a thrilling game with chances coming thick and fast. Both teams created chances and it was a very close game until the third quarter when Claremorris found the back of the net on 4 occasions. This gave Claremorris a significant cushion and, despite great effort, Kilmeena were unable to claw their way back into the game. It finished on a scoreline of 6-09 to 2-07 in favour of the visitors.

All the Kilmeena players again put in a fantastic effort. Conor Feehan and Joseph O'Malley started well but then had to depart to bolster numbers for the other Kilmeena Under 12 game, which was played simultaneously. There were notable standout performances from Sean Gallagher and Peadar O'Toole, who were strong at the back and in midfield respectively. Other strong performers on the day were Jack and Stephen O'Grady, Matthew Hogan, Dylan Staunton and Cormac Feehan, who made a great impact from the bench. This game also saw Charlie Hughes make his comeback from a broken arm injury. Well done to all the boys for putting in an outstanding effort.

Kilmeena U-12 boys played their fourth and final round of the league away to Kiltimagh on Monday evening the 30th of May. Kilmeena travelled with a panel of 25 players. The captain of the Kilmeena team for this encounter was Evan O Donnell. Evan put in a sterling performance at corner forward and was top scorer with a goal and point from play.
Kilmeena got off to a great start leading by 0 - 04 to 0 - 00 at the end of the first quarter. Conal Gill registered the first score of the game followed by points from Odhran Tieran, Evan O Donnell and the attacking halfback Jack Mulchrone. Kiltimagh came back into the game in the second quarter outscoring Kilmeena by 1 - 02 to 0 - 02. Finley Gibbons and Conal Gibbons scoring the two points for Kilmeena. Half time score was 0 - 06 to 1 - 01 in favour of the Kilmeena lads.
The third quarter was always going to be critical and Kilmeena increased the intensity outscoring Kiltimagh by 1 - 04 to 0 - 03. The points coming this time from Colin Hastings, Ciaran Kilcoyne, Conal Gill and Jack O Grady while Evan O Donnell scored Kilmeena’s only goal where he pounced on an opportunity during a goal mouth scramble to put the ball into the back of the net. During the final quarter Ciaran Kilcoyne finished off the game scoring two points to leave the final score line of 1 - 12 to

1 - 07 in favour of Kilmeena.
Harry Sherdian is worthy of special mention in goal where his long and accurate kicks were crucial to Kilmeena wining the majority of possession from their own kick outs. The statistics for the game show that the top defenders were Gavin Mulchrone, Adam O Grady, Liam Moore and Rian Kilcoyne between them they had a massive number of 18 turnovers of possession which prevented definite scores and provided quality ball to the attacking forwards. Brian Durkan put in a mighty shift at midfield alongside Finley Gibbons. All in all this was a great performance by the entire panel of 25 players who all got game time this evening. Those lads were, Evan O Donnell Capt., Brian Durkan, Conor Feehan, Cormac Feehan, Conal Gill, Conor Gibbons, Finley Gibbons, Colin Hastings, Donal Hastings, Matthew Hogan, Daniel Kelly, Ciarán Kilcoyne, Rían Kilcoyne, Liam Moore, Brian Mulchrone, Gavin Mulchrone, Jack Mulchrone, Louis O Donnell, Jack O Grady, Stephen O Grady, Adam O Grady, Odhran Tieran, Harry Sherdian, Keelan Corcoran, Peadar O Toole.
Well done to Kiltimagh for a good competitive game and thanks to those who travelled to support the Kilmeena team.

Next training is Thursday evening from 7 to 8pm.
Match Report by Ollie Mulchrone.

Kilmeena U-12 boys played their third game of the league at home to Moy Davitts on Monday evening the 23rd of May. Moy Davitts travelled with a panel of 22 players which allowed for two teams to be selected. The first game was played with 13 aside on the main pitch while the second game was played in the adjoining training pitch. Kilmeena got off to the better start by winning the first quarter by 1 - 02 to 1 - 00. However, Moy Davitts hit their purple patch in the second quarter and scored 2 - 02 to 0 - 01 leaving the half time score of 1 - 03 to 3 - 02 in favour of the visitors. The Kilmeena boys had lots of possession in the third quarter but failed to convert their dominance into scores on the board. They did manage to score 1 - 03 to 2 - 01 but this left them with too much to do in the final quarter. At full time the score line read Kilmeena 2 - 07 to Moy Davitts 6 - 04. Liam Moore was outstanding in defence with twice as many turnover of possession (14) than anyone else on the field.

Game 1
Kilmeena U-12 boys played their second game of the league away to Aughamore on Monday evening the 16th of May. Kilmeena travelled with a panel of 27 players. Two teams were selected which facilitated all boys getting game time. Both games were played in parallel. The Kilmeena teams were captained by Donal Hastings and Brian Durkan. Both of these lads played the captains role and lead by example throughout their respective games.
Scores in Game 1 came from Matthew Hogan (4), Jack O Grady (2), Conor Feehan, Conor Kelly, Peadar O Toole, Keelan Corcoran & Odhran Tieran (1 each). Good performances were also noted from Dylan Staunton, Sean Gallagher, Louis O Donnell, Jason Monaghan and Stephen O Grady.

Kilmeena 0 - 11 4 - 11 Aughamore

Game 2
This game got off to a slow start for the Kilmeena lads where Aughamore outscored them by 4 points to 1 in the first quarter and 2-01 to 1-03 in the second quarter. Half time score was 1-04 to 2-05 in favour of Aughamore. Tactical switches at midfield with tight marking by the energetic Colin Hastings and influential Brian Durkan brought Kilmeena right back into the game where they held the majority of possession in the 3rd quarter. However, a combination of excellent defence by Aughamore and a run of bad luck for Kilmeena prevented any score difference with 2 points apiece. The momentum that the Kilmeena lads build up in the third quarter continued in the final quarter where Kilmeena outscored Aughamore by 2-04 to 1-01 leaving the final score line of 3-10 to 3-08 in favour of Kilmeena.
Darragh Slattery registered Kilmeena’s first score. Harry Sherdian pulled off some brilliant saves (again) while Adam O Grady and Gavin Mulchrone held solid in defence. Rian Kilcoyne prevented definite scores from crucial blocks and turnovers. Daniel Kelly was unselfish upfront with key assists for scores from Ciaran Kilcoyne (G) Conal Gill (G &1) Liam Moore (2), Darragh Slattery (3), Jack Mulchrone (2), Rian Kilcoyne (1), Evan O Donnell (1) and Lorcan Coady (G).
Well done to Aughamore for a good sporting game and thanks to those who travelled to support these great young fellas from Kilmeena. Also, special thanks to Cian O Brien for his assistance with the stats from the game.

Kilmeena U-12 boys played their first game of 2016 at home to Balla on Monday evening the 9th May. This was the first round of the U-12 league. Balla travelled with a panel of 20 players while Kilmeena had 33 togged out for this encounter. Kilmeena were captained by Lorcan Coady who kept control of defence. Kilmeena played 26 different players with rolling substitutions over the 4 quarters. The weather conditions were good this evening for underage football with a gentle warm breeze blowing down the fields. The Kilmeena boys put in a sterling performance where the defence resisted constant pressure from the Balla attack with notable tight marking from Jack & Gavin Mulchrone, Lorcan Coady & Rian Kilcoyne. Harry Sherdian pulled off some magnificent saves to keep Kilmeena in the match at critical times. The midfield positions were highly contested with Balla having the height advantage. However, this didn’t deter the Kilmeena lads who held their own in the critical area of the field. Finley Gibbons did all that was asked of him and was worthy contender for man of the match. He recorded Kilmeena’s first score of the evening. Upfront there was a constant treat from the Kilmeena sharpshooters with some well taken points from Liam Moore, Conal Gill, Colin Hastings and super sub Conor Feehan. However it was the goals scored by Conal Gill (2), Daniel Kelly (2) Colin Hastings and Ciaran Kilcoyne that made the real difference. This evening saw Jack Jennings wear the Kilmeena Jersey for the first time. He didn’t let the occasion get to him and he put in a top class performance.
