From a Kilmeena prospective, this game is best summed as ‘Poor Start – Great Finish’.Crossmolina dominated the first quarter, playing some good football - they moved the ball quickly, with accurate passing and interplay. In this period, Crossmolina posted 2-2, whilst at the other end Kilmeena failed to register any score for their efforts.
In the second period, following some player and positional changes, Kilmeena rallied and kept pace with Crossmolina; each team managing to post 1-2 in this quarter. Crossmolina shaded the third quarter, scoring 1-2 to Kilmeena’s 1-1.In the fourth quarter, it was ‘do or die’. So, with a few more positional changes the Kilmeena lads gave it everything and their efforts yielded goals from Ben Lennon, Finley Gibbons and Sean Prenty – 5 in total in the final twelve minute spell, to give Kilmeena a deserved win and one which looked very unlikely in the first quarter.
Kilmeena and Crossmolina each fielded a second team in a 10 a-side match; which was played simultaneously to the match above. Kilmeena also got the better of their opponents in this game.
As always, well done to all players and substitutes, for their great efforts in a Kilmeena jersey. The ‘weather gods’ were also kind to all this evening!!
