In their fourth competitive fixture of 2013, Kilmeena put in their best performance of the season so far against a strong Ballintubber side. In poor weather conditions and playing into a very strong wind in the first half, Kilmeena matched their opponents manfully.  Despite being competitive, Kilmeena trailed at the break due to the awarding of some soft frees and some precise place kicking, aided by the breeze, from Ballintubber. Playing with the wind behind them in the second half, Kilmeena outplayed their opponents, limiting them to two scores in the entire period. Kilmeena played some impressive football and more accurate finishing from play and the placed ball would have seen them close the gap on the scoreboard. In the end, Kilmeena couldn’t get the necessary scores and gain the win their performance and endeavour deserved. If Kilmeena put in more performances like this, especially their second half display, this team should gain some well deserved victories.
