The process of formulating the five year plan - 2014-2019, for the Kilmeena GAA club, got well and truly underway last night, Thursday 6th February 2014, with a well attended open meeting in the Clew Bay Hotel Westport. The meeting took the form of a brain storming session, facilitated by Mr Luke Fitzmaurice, representing the Mayo GAA County Board. In advance of the meeting all other clubs, sporting organisations and voluntary groups from within the parish were invited to attend, with a view to hearing their thoughts and ideas regarding the Kilmeena G.A.A. club and how it should proceed into the future. The emphasis being to put the necessary development structures in place, which will see the club meet the challenges that lie ahead so that it can continue to grow and provide the best possible facilities for all who may use the club in the future. The session was very well attended, with a good mix of young and not so young, and no doubt terrific ideas have been generated. It is now up to the steering committee to address the ideas that were articulated and develop a plan for the next five years.
A big thanks to all who turned up on the night, and for making such valuable contributions to the formulation of the club plan. To Luke Fitzmaurice the facilitator, and the Clew Bay Hotel for providing the venue and refreshments.
It is the intention, that when the plan is introduced, that it will form the blueprint for the club going forward and will be representative of your thoughts and ideas over the next five years.
