Kilmeena played their second senior game of 2013 on Sunday, as they took on Louisburgh in the West Mayo Kelly Cup. Unfortunately, the concession of goals early in the first half and late in the second was to prove costly and, despite an improved performance from Kilmeena, they just couldn’t overcome a strong Louisburgh team.

Again, the playing numbers were strong and the performance was a marked improvement on the Breaffy game with an increased scoring rate and high energy in all areas of the team. A good crowd turned up to show their support, which was welcome. Again, this improved performance leads to optimism for a successful 2013 campaign and the hard work continues on the training ground and on the pitch, with Westport the next opponents for Kilmeena.

That game is round three of the Kelly Cup and it takes place next Sunday, 3 March, in Kilmeena. Throw-in is set for 12.00pm. Another good crowd would be appreciated as we take on our neighbours.
