Kilmeena put in their best performance of this season so far but were still unable to overcome a strong Westport side. The concession of goals early in the first half was, ultimately, to prove costly for Kilmeena.

This was a vastly improved team performance, with the players working hard for each other and displaying a cohesion that had been missing in the earlier rounds. After conceding two early goals, Kilmeena rallied and a strong display up to the half time whistle meant that the teams were separated only by that two goal margin. Kilmeena scored a goal early in the second half and they remained competitive, despite playing into a strong wind. Eventually, the experience of playing at a higher level began to tell and Westport pulled away to secure a hard fought victory.

This was a very positive performance from Kilmeena, despite the result. On this evidence, the training is beginning to pay off. The team are more comfortable with what they are trying to do and it won’t be long before they get into the winning habit.
