Goals the difference in this epic Junior Championship game in St Brendan's Park Kilmeena
Kilmeena 0 – 12 2 – 10 Charlestown
Kilmeena’s involvement in this year’s Junior Football Championship ended with this narrow loss to Charlestown.
Kilmeena started brightly and led early on but a total of seven wides were costly in a game with very little between the teams. The concession of a goal in the first half and a converted penalty early in the second half were to prove decisive. Despite a valiant fightback, Kilmeena couldn’t find the necessary scores to swing the game their way.
A Championship that ends with defeat but should ultimately be looked on as a successful campaign. This team has come a long way in a short time. Their hard work and commitment has done a lot to restore pride in the Kilmeena shirt. They have gained valuable experience and will look to go a step further in Championship 2014.
Well done to the players and the management team and best of luck for the remainder of 2013.
