The first ever 5K family fun run took place in Kilmeena on Thursday 20th October- with over 200 participants taking to the roads of Kilmeena to complete a 5k loop as part of a fundraising campaign for St Brendan’s National School.
The beautiful weather added to the atmosphere of the evening- with crowds of almost 300 gathered to cheer on, race or prepare for the event. There was a real sense of community in the tight knit parish on the evening with people of all ages enjoying the company of friends and neighbours and the beautiful spread laid on by the Parents Association. Hobans centra sponsored some very generous prizes for a range of categories. There were some very worthy winners in all catagories but no one left disappointed as everyone was a winner on the evening. The staff of Saint Brendans N.S would like to thank everyone for their continued support and they are already looking forward to our next community event.

RULES
Day 1 – Sunday 23rd October at 12:30 each team will have 2 games.
Day 2 –Sunday 30th October each team will have 3 games.
Day 3 – Sunday 6th November each team will have 1 game followed by skills test.
Skills test for the following groups Under 10, Under 12.
- All players must wear gum shields.
- There will be no 45’s.
- Maximum 2 plays.
- Referees will be young club members so we ask all players & managers to respect them.
- Unlimited roll on roll off substitutions.
- If your son or daughter has inadvertently been omitted from the above list, please turn up on Sunday the 23rd Oct at 12:30 and he/she will be placed on one of the above teams.
PLEASE NOTE THAT GAMES ARE FRIENDLY AND STRICTLY MIXED ABILITY. THIS IS A DEVELOPMENTAL LEAGUE DESIGNED TO ENCOURAGE CLUB INVOLVEMENT.
The dates for the school winter league are as follows:
Sunday 23rd & 30th of October and Sunday 6th of November starting at 12:30pm at Kilmeena GAA pitch.
This league is for national school boys and girls aged 9-12 years.
A skills competition will also take place on the final Sunday, 6th November.
The league is to honour the memory of decesead members of familes involved in the Kilmeena club.
