Earlier this year, Kilmeena native, P. J. Mulroy, now resident in Westport but not forgetting his roots, very generously presented a set of footballs to the Club for the under 10 girls.

The Dermot Early Youth Leadership Award.

This initiative is a year-long programme running over three modules between October 2017 and May 2018. It involves 30 hours of workshops designed to develop the leadership skills that Dermot epitomised on and off the field. Also, 30 hours of self-directed learning is also required.
Those who complete all three modules will have the opportunity to graduate from NUIG with a Foundation Certificate in Youth Leadership and Community Action.

Kilmeena U8 girls group travelled to Westport on Wednesday 20th September. The group split into U8s and U6s.  We played two 7 a side games.  Both teams played well, putting to use the skills they have learned over the season. There were some fine scores following lovely passing moves and lots of support play.  Well done to all the girls especially those who played in goals.
Wearing the Kilmeena jersey proudly were:  Sophie Clough, Grainne Feehan, Cara Mongey, Lauren Munroe, Ellie Mai Keane, Emma Gannon, Emily Fahy, Charley Coyle, Leah Gavin-Walshe, Katie Moran, Cailin McPhilips, Amy McIntyre-Gibbons, Keira Kenning, Aoibhinn Lyons.  Absent: Kitty Sweeney & Elsie Coyne.
Thanks to all the parents for the support and thanks also to Sandra, Nicola & Maura on the sideline.

Kilmeena girls were away to Louisburgh in the Girls U13 league on Friday evening. It was a beautiful sunny evening in Louisburgh. There wasn't much between the teams in first half with plenty of great scores from both sides. Kilmeena led 4 - 5 to 4 - 1 at half time.
After the break Kilmeena started the stronger and had some excellent passages of play, which led to superb scores. A great display by the girls. Well done!

Kilmeena V Louisburgh U13 Girls League

The Kilmeena U16 girls home game this evening was against Westport, with a strong westerly wind blowing the visitors who won the toss elected to play with the wind in the first half, the big challenge for Kilmeena was to defend in every position and maintain possession as best they could and in parts they managed to maintain but Westport got on the score board early with well executed scores, coupled with the strong breeze the home team was seriously under pressure but they prevailed with notable performances by Ciara Joyce, Shannon Burke, Aine Regan & Sarah McDonald who kept the score board ticking. Defensively the Girls were under alot of pressure with surging runs by Westport but they defended strongly by minimizing their scoring capabilities, by half time Westport were well ahead with the game nearly out of reach, but then came the second half a resurgent Kilmeena team took control of the game and managed to close the gap by scoring some excellent points & goals, in defence the home team got the better of their makers thus limiting scoring opportunities, with notable performances by Dearbhla Grealis, Abby McGreal, Katie Hogan, Aoife Gibbons, Laura & Mollie Moore. In made for a very close and exciting finish but when final whistle blew the game ended in a draw. Thank you to Westport for very sporting game and the best of luck to you in the championship.
