Coach Education
Mayo Coaching and Games have scheduled a number of coaching courses for early 2015 for all Clubs in West Mayo. Each course consists of two sessions.
Foundation Level Course: Monday, February 9 and Wednesday, February 11 at Elvery's Mc Hale Park Castlebar at 7pm.
A second Foundation Course will run on Monday 16 and Wednesday 18 February, commencing at 7pm each evening also in Castlebar.
The foundation courses are for coaches new into coaching and it is a requirement by the Kilmeena club that all first time coaches must complete this course.
Award One Youth coaching courses for those who have undertaken the foundation course will be held at Mc Hale Park, it consists of four sessions and will be run on the following dates February 23 and 25 March 2 and 4 commencing at 7pm each evening.
Award one Child coaching course, again for coaches with the foundation course will run for four Sessions. January 19, 21, 26 and 28 at McHale Park commencing at 7pm.
It is necessary that all our coaches are continuously up-skilling themselves, and are actively partaking of Coaching courses when they are being provided. This is the only way, coaches can improve on their technique and become better at the coaching of our games.
National Club Draw
Tickets for the National Club Draw must be returned to the club treasurer Padraic Moore by Sunday, January 18. Members with tickets to sell are asked to make a huge effort in the coming weeks to ensure that all the tickets allocated are sold. All proceeds from this draw goes directly to the Club and is a vital fundraiser. Please note the Club Lotto commences on Thursday, February 5.

The unusual summer conditions provided the perfect backdrop for the Club's annual charity fundraiser held today in Kilmeena. Because of insurance restrictions imposed on GAA clubs by Croke Park for this time of year, this year's fundraiser was limited to a run/walk for those taking part.
The event started from the clubhouse and continued via sunny Roscahill, across the scenic Bailegorm hills, culminating in the Community centre, where copious amounts of mulled wine and other refreshments awaited the participants. Many thanks to the ladies who took the time to prepare and provide us with the culinary delights we gratefully accepted. Also on display was the exhibition from the 125th celebrations held earlier this year, depicting the Club's sporting endeavours throughout its history.
The event provided an opportunity to meet with and welcome old friends from afar, returning to spend time with family and friends for the festive season. A special welcome to former club stalwarts, James Ryan and Danny Duffy, both of whom now ply their footballing skills with clubs in the far off lands of Austraila. Also, a céad míle fáilte to John and Niamh Moore, who graced us with their presence on the occasion. John was a footballer of some note for the club in the very recent past. John and Niamh now reside in Dublin. All are looking as fit and youthful as ever.

believe it or not, Declan Moore aged 8 years, finishing 4th overall in the run. Well done Declan.

Disappointingly, there will not be a charity game this year. This is due to insurance constraints imposed by the GAA during the GAA "close season".
We are, however, going to have a charity fun run/walk as an alternative event. This will take place on Sunday 28th December at 2pm. All are welcome to join in, no matter your level of fitness. Funds raised on the day will go to a designated charity as they would had we played our charity football match. Hope to see you there!
The very popular Kilmeena GAA Exhibition, featuring archives and great images from past and present, will also return for the occasion. The exhibit will again be held in the Community Centre and can be viewed after the fun run.
