The girl’s under 12 team recorded an impressive win over Louisburgh on Sunday last in Kilmeena GAA Pitch. Great credit is due to all the girl’s for turning up on Sunday morning. The panel has increased over the last number of weeks and there is now great competition for places. On Sunday everyone got a game and some girl’s played for the team for their first competitive match.
Kilmeena took control of the game early on and took some great points from out the field. There was a stiff breeze, but that did not stop the girls from building up a significant lead against the wind. Kilmeena continued in the second half with some great goals and all the girl’s gave their very best. It was a great sporting occasion and Louisburgh girls battled to the end and they recorded some lovely scores also.
Both teams displayed great skills and gave a great exhibition of football.
Kilmeena will train on Wednesday evening at 6pm, in preparation for the big derby game against Westport next week. We are very thankful for all the support and we look forward to the weeks ahead.
Kindest Regards
The Management Team

Kilmeena V Louisburgh U12 Girls League

St Brendan’s National School Kilmeena took part in the half time Cumann na mBunscol exhibition match in McHale Park last Sunday during the half time interval of the Mayo V Donegal match. This was a historic event for the school and a great experience for the boys in 6th class. There was great  excitement all week in the school and the boys really enjoyed the experience. It was a great treat to put on the Mayo jersey and walk through the tunnel at McHale Park. As always the lads were a credit to the club and were very thankful to the organisers. The game itself flew by and having recorded 2 lovely scores, Colin Hastings rattled the crossbar with a thunderous shot. All the boys played well and after the exhibition game they shook hands with the lads from Breaffy. We had ring side seats for the match and all witnessed a great result for Mayo. I wish to thank Pat Mulchrone and Martin McIntyre for all their help and support. I have no doubt that this bunch of young men will continue to represent their club and indeed county in the future.
Well done to all concerned.
