Ladies GAA

Templeogue Synge Street, U15 Ladies Football club from Dublin  will travel to Kilmeena on Saturday, August 22.

They will play our under 14/16 girls in a challenge match at 12:30pm. (Girls please be at pitch for 12 noon).

After the game we will have a cuppa and some refreshments. We are asking  parents to provide a tray of sandwiches, cakes or treats for the visiting team, so they can experience a nice Mayo welcome

The Kilmeena girls lined out in the first round of the U14 C championship on Sunday afternoon against neighbours Westport. Due to a number of the regular U14s not being available a large part of the Kilmeena team was made up of our U12 girls who were playing at this level for the first time. It was always going to be a challenge against a good Westport team who started strongly opening up an early lead which they held onto until the final whistle. However the Kilmeena girls showed true determination and some fine performances and never gave up. It is a credit to the U12 girls for making the step up and for playing so well. Well done to Westport on their win.

Kilmeena    1  -  2       11  -  7    Westport

Match Report - U12 Girls

Kilmeena u12 Girls 4– 6 (24)
Davitts u12 Girls 5- 5 (26)
The Kilmeena U12 Girls travelled to Ballindine to play Davitts last evening Monday 13th of July.
The Captain for this game was Rachel Gibbons, who plays U12, and also at u14 level.
Kilmeena started the game brilliantly, being first to the ball and in turn taking well executed scores. The Home side were threatening throughout the first two quarters but Kilmeena Girls were able to negate their efforts.
As in most games the home side were going to mount a challenge, with this came the loss of two of our key forwards, Emma Murray & Ashling Hoban who were fantastic on the night, both unfortunately picked up injuries during the game which turned out to be the turning point, in the final two quarters this came as a reality with Davits tacking on good scores. But Kilmeena persisted with good use of possession in getting the ball into scoreable positions with some success, but the home side defended well.
It turned out to be a close finish, and in fairness to the girls they really worked hard all over the pitch but the home side put in a stronger finish which ultimately decided the final outcome of the game, well done Davitts.
Cul Camp starts Monday the 20th of July, we would encourage all girls and boys to participate if possible.
Well done to all the Players, Management & Parents who car pooled

KILMEENA U16 GIRL'S LEAGUE

Kilmeena v Cill Chomain, Thursday 9 July 2015
The U16 Girls played their final league game at home last night in wet and tricky playing conditions for both teams.
In what was a keenly contested game, the team captained by Roisin Hogan took an early lead before Cill Chomain fought back to take a four point lead into the half time break.
The second half began with the Kilmeena team playing some excellent football to draw level. This unfortunately was to be short lived as Cill Chomain scored two quick goals mid way through the half to take the lead again. Kilmeena continued to battle hard with some passages of skilfull play from both teams. The result however didn't go Kilmeena's way with Cill Chomain winning out on a score line of 6-13to 4-11.
Congratulations to Cill Chomain on a good win and thanks to all the Kilmeena girls on what was a very enjoyable game.

Kilmeena U10s girls played Burrishoole in a friendly match on Wednesday 24th June at home in Kilmeena.
Our young ladies put on a great display of football, especially in the third quarter which they managed to maintain till the very end.
The game was keenly contested with some great scores taken by both teams.
It was a lovely evening with some glorious sunshine so this added to a good evenings football.
The under 10 girls will travel to Parke on Saturday, July 11 for an under 10 blitz. Best of luck to all the girls and their management team.
