Kilmeena started brightly, posting three goals (including a well taken penalty by Chris McNally) and a point in the first quarter. Balla struggled in this opening period only making occasional forays into the Kilmeena half, which yielded just a point for the visitors. However, Balla then took the initiative and in a purple patch lasting 10 minutes, they scored 2-2. Both teams exchanged scores in the last 5 minutes of the first half, with Kilmeena raising two further green flags to leave the scoreline 5 -2 to 2 – 4 at the small whistle.
Kilmeena made a solid start to the second half, outscoring Balla by 5 points to nil. In the final quarter, Kilmeena ran the bench and this coincided with a Balla resurgence which yielded 1 – 5 for the visitors – the goal coming from a penalty in the dying moments of the contest.
Despite the final push by the visitors, Kilmeena tacked on 3 further points in the final quarter, including an excellent score from Ronan O’Donnell and a well taken point by Ben Lennon.
Kilmeena were deserved winners, in a match that they controlled for long periods.

Kilmeena minors had a great win away to Bonniconlon on Tuesdays the 5th of April.
The first half was played in perfect conditions and the Kilmeena lads settled well. There were some great scores and Kilmeena led at half time 8 points to 4 points. Just as half time came so did the wind and rain. Kilmeena had an uphill battle in the second half. Within 5 minutes Bonniconlon were within a point. But then second half sub Jack Carney buried a cracker. That was the score that kept us ahead. This was a great team performance and all players contributed to a winning performance. Kilmeena 1 - 09 Bonniconlon 0 - 1 0.
Our next game is next Tuesday against Ballaghaderreen. Venue; St Brendan's Park Kilmeena. Time; 7pm.

Kilmeena U16 ladies played a very entertaining and high scoring game at home on Monday, 4th April against a strong Moy Davitts side.
Moy Davitts made the better start and were 5 points ahead at half time. The second half was a real nail biting encounter with Kilmeena closing the margin to 1 point with 10 minutes remaining.
However, Moy Davitts held on to win by 4 points. Team captain and goalkeeper Susannah Horgan was outstanding with some brillant saves. Some excellent play by Nina Mathestein and Katie Hogan. Also great scores by Regina Corcoran and Shannon Bourke were highlights of an overall brilliant performance.
It was a great display from the Kilmeena ladies who showed real potential for the future.

Burrishoole started the game strongly clocking up good scores, but the kilmeena girls never gave up and were unluckly not to score a number of goals in the final Quarters, congrats to the visitors as they proved to be much stronger on the day and were worthy winners.
Well done to all the kilmeena Girls who turned out for this and thank you to the parents for their support.
