On Sunday morning, 17th April, the U - 16 lads faced very good opposition from a Davitt’s outfit. Playing against the breeze in the first half we struggled to contain a strong running Davitt’s team.At half time four Davitt goals separated the sides. A far better tackling, running, supporting and scoring second half from Kilmeena saw us more than hold our own with some nice scores taken. This team finishes up the Sunday morning league with an away fixture in Ardnaree on Sunday 24th April.

Kilmeena minors had a great win against Ardmoy Mchales in Moygownagh this evening. The first half was well contested and Kilmeena lead by 2 points after playing with a strong wind. Halftime score; 1 - 07 to 1 - 05. The poor ground conditions made scoring difficult.
Kilmeena started well in the second half and began to control the game. The Kilmeena lads started working well for one another and their superior fitness levels shone through. Our passing improved and we took our chances and our defence limited the opposition to 3 point.
Next game at home next Tuesday 19th April against Mayo Geals.

Kilmeena were away to Moy Davitts in this 3rd round game.
The final score would confirm that Moy Davitts were efficient and ruthless in possession, in what proved a difficult evening for the boys wearing the Kilmeena jersey.
Yes, Kilmeena were without a few crucial players (who were unable to travel), but that aside, the team did not play to their potential on this occasion and in truth they never really got going; thus allowing Moy Davitts to dictate the tempo from the first to the final whistle.
That said, the Kilmeena lads did have a mini period of dominance at the latter period of each half; with Ronan O’Donnell both assisting and posting points at the end of the first half. Sean Prenty and Kian Moore raised a green flag each at the latter stages of the second period.
In the end, Kilmeena could have no complaints and Moy Davitts were deserved winners.
