It's the final round of Group 3 fixtures and Kilmeena GAA face another must win game.
Not taking our scores against Ballaghaderreen led to a narrow defeat and the concession of goals against... group leaders Achill led to Kilmeena losing by one point.
So despite playing well in this years Championship, we need to beat Charlestown tomorrow, and hope the other result goes our way, to progress to the play-off's. Alternatively, a defeat could see Kilmeena facing a relegation play-off........so a lot to play for!!
If the lad's can take their league form into tomorrows game (won every league game so far) a victory is not out of the question. But, again, your support could make all the difference. Come and shout for your local team in this very important match.
Sunday 20 July, Venue; Fr O'Hara Park, Charlestown. Time; 2pm.
Charlestown Sarsfields vs Kilmeena GAA
The Kilmeena U12's completed their league campaign with a hard fought 10 point win at home to Westport on Monday evening last. Kilmeena went into the game without 8 regulars and had to call on 3 from the Under 10 squad.
The Kilmeena under 16 team continued their unbeaten run in the championship with a hard earned victory over Ballinrobe on Tuesday evening. Having secured the league and with comprehensive wins over The Neale and Parke, the team came into this game with a high level of confidence. This confidence was tested from the very start and the Ballinrobe team settled immediately and took an early three point lead. Kilmeena to their credit settled after that, and took some fine scores. Conditions were very difficult at times yet the team showed great determination and character to lead by seven points at half time. Ballinrobe to their credit started the second half with great spirits and scored two goals in quick succession. The Kilmeena team responded superbly and once again showed great commitment and ability on the ball. Some fine scores were taken and Kilmeena pushed on to record a very important victory and remain top of the group. It was a proud day for Robbie Harper who was captain of the team for the day. Kilmeena now play Carras next Tuesday tonight at home. We hope to see a large crowd there to support this great group of lads whom have brought great honour to the club this year. Keep it up lads and well done.
Many thanks for your continued support.
