In a game of four quarters, Kilmeena started brightly; posting a number of well taken points. Following the award of a 45 to Kilmeena and the resulting kick into the square, Chris McGlynn won possession and scored Kilmeena’s first goal. Lahardane McHales managed just a single point in the first quarter, albeit against a strong wind.
Now playing against the wind, Kilmeena held their own in the second quarter. Evan O’Donnell scored Kilmeena’s second goal in the third quarter. Indeed, Kilmeena limited Lahardane to a measly 3 points over the first three quarters of the game.
In the fourth quarter, all changed. Lahardane, aided by a continuing strong wind grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck and rattled off 4 goals and a point; whilst Cillian O’Grady, set up by Sean Prenty, scored a crucial goal at the other end, to give Kilmeena a 2 point winning margin at the final whistle. Relief all round for the Kilmeena supporters and management!!
Well done to all players and substitutes, for their great efforts in a Kilmeena jersey, on what was a difficult evening weather-wise for playing football.
Michael O'Grady

Good luck from all at Kilmeena GAA Club.
A decision by the CCC, as recommended at the last Mayo County Board meeting, means that we will not forfeit our opening game of the league campaign.
The Division 1D fixture away to Killala will now take place the week ending 20th/21st of June.
We welcome the decision of the CCC and feel that it is the appropriate outcome. We also express gratitude to our fellow clubs and their members/delegates who supported this decision.
