Congrats to Joe Ryan ( junior) who won the Kilmeena GAA lotto jackpot last night €7,700!! Wow!!!!! Don't spend it all at once or in the one shop - spread it around Joe!
"I can't believe it - am I dreaming or what - someone pinch me. Seriously, did I really win the Kilmeena Club Lotto"?
The pleasant Spring sunshine added to the palpable excitement this evening in St Brendan’s Park, when it was announced that each member of the recently registered U8 and U6's boys within the Club was to receive a personally signed football from Mayo Minor footballer, Keith Joyce. A significant gesture from the Club in encouraging all youngsters to become actively involved in developing a healthy lifestyle through sport.

With a place at stake in a County Final, Kilmeena put in a workman like performance to overcome a determined Hollymount/Carramore side at home on Tuesday evening last. Kilmeena playing against a strong breeze settled well with 2 early points but Hollymount/Carramore levelled by 10minutes. Both teams traded points but a Kian Moore goal on 15minutes put the home side in control. Kilmeena now playing free flowing football hit 5 points without reply, but Hollymount/Carramore hit back with 3 quick fire points in a 2 minute spell just before the break to leave a half time score of Kilmeena 1-09 Hollymount/Carramore 0-06.
The second half began with both teams trading a brace of points and a converted Hollymount/Carramore penalty on 10 minutes, left 2 points between the teams. With Hollymount/Carramore growing more and more in confidence it was now game on. Kilmeena dug deep and with impressive defending and clever use of possession around the middle they hit 4 points without reply. With the game entering the final quarter and Hollymount/Carramore throwing everything at the home side Kilmeena freshened up the attack with introduction of Sean Prenty and Cillian O’Grady. This paid immediate dividends with 2 Sean Prenty goals within a 3 minute spell to end the game as a contest. Hollymount/Carramore hit back with a consolation goal but the home side tagged on further points to leave a final score of Kilmeena 3 - 19 to Hollymount/Carramore 2 - 08. This was an all round solid performance by Kilmeena who can now look forward to a County Final next week against Ardnaree. Well done to a great bunch of young men.
