Kilmeena travelled to Clogher on Saturday evening to face what looked like a strong Ballintubber team. The game was only a few seconds old when Alan Ryan stole through the middle only to be brought down for a penalty. Joey Smyth calmly slotted home the spot kick. this set the tone for a fine performance from the kilmeena lads.
Ballintubber gradually fought their way back into the game but as the half wore on kilmeena maintained a three point lead, and in a strong end to the first half kilmeena slotted over three unanswered points to leave the half time score Kilmeena 1 - 8, Ballintubber B 0 - 5
Ballintubber got on the scoreboard early in the second half, but from there on kilmeena were in complete control. The defence was dealing easily with Ballintubber attacks, and then launching stunning counter attacks. Towards the end Alan Ryan made sure of the win finishing off an excellent team move through the heart of the home defence.
This promised to be a very tricky game, but the final score in no way flattered the kilmeena boys who all turned in a fine performance

Kilmeena U-16s recorded an impressive home win over Ardnaree in a top of the table clash on Sunday evening last on a perfect sunny evening for football. Both teams played flowing football from the start and the home side settled with an early point, but on a mix up in the home defence let Ardnaree in for a goal after 5 mins. Both teams traded points to leave it 1 - 03 to 0 - 3 midway in the first half. Kilmeena found the net on 18mins after a flowing move, but Ardnaree hit back with 3 points before the break to lead 1 - 06 to 1 - 03.
The second half began with more intensity and with the home side now dominating at midfield, they ran at Ardnaree from all areas scoring 2-04 without reply to lead by 7 mid way through 2nd half. Just as the game seemed to be swinging in favour of the home side, Ardnaree hit back with 1 - 01 to leave 3 between them entering the last 10mins. Kilmeena responded with 3 points but a converted Ardanree penalty on 27mins set up a frantic finish. A Kilmeena point on 29mins put 4 between them to leave a final score of 3 - 12 to 3 - 08.
This result completed a great week for Kilmeena U16s as on Thursday evening last they recorded an impressive away win over Swinford with a final score of Swinford 2 - 04, Kilmeena 3 - 15. With the league now complete and Kilmeena sitting proudly on top of the table (7wins out of 8) they can now look forward to a home semi final.
Well done to all involved on a great season so far.

On a very warm afternoon in Swinford amenity park, the Mayo U14 girls took on Sligo in the final of the Connacht B championship. Unfortunately on this occasion they came up short in what was a very exciting contest. Well done to our own Ciara Joyce on making the panel this year. Ciara lined out today at corner forward scoring a point in the first half. Best of luck to Sligo as they progress.
