Kilmeena 2 - 15 1 - 9 Crossmolina B
Kilmeena started off their Junior championship campaign this season with a comprehensive win in what had the potential to be a difficult home fixture. Kilmeena started brightly and soon had their opponents pegged back despite playing into a stiff breeze. Crossmolina were fielding an experienced team and they soon dug in to keep the game tight as the first half wore on.
A scoring burst in the last ten minutes of the half saw Kilmeena score 1 - 5 to no reply leaving the half time score Kilmeena 1 - 10, Crossmolina 0 - 5
The opening exchanges in the second half saw the visitors get a grip early on, and Kilmeena were struggling to get on the ball. The Kilmeena attack was always threatening and a number of fine counter attacks kept the gap at a comfortable one.
In the end Kilmeena was able to run their bench and run out comfortable winners.
Best for Kilmeena; Darragh keaveney, Joey Smyth, Niall Ryan.
Scorers D Keaveney 1 - 8 (3f), P Groden 1 - 0, L Heanue 0 - 2, N Duffy 0 - 2,
C Madden 0 - 1, J Smyth 0 - 1, K Joyce 0 - 1

Please come along and support our girls.
As a result training for under 8,10 and 12's is cancelled for this week.
The rain stayed away as Kilmeena’s U8s hosted Tourmakeady for their first match of the season on a murky Saturday morning at St. Brendan's. As Tourmakeady could only field seven players, it meant they played two games against our lads, thus ensuring that all of the Kilmeena players got to play a full game. Special credit must be given to the younger players in the squad, all of whom acquitted themselves magnificently on their very first outing for the club. Next up: Islandeady at Kilmeena pitch next Saturday at 11am!
