On a warm sunny Saturday afternoon it was with great pleasure that the Kilmeena ladies GFC hosted the Templogue Synge street U16 ladies Gaelic football team in a challenge game. The Dublin team were on a bonding weekend and staying overnight on Achill Island.
The game refereed by Martin Corcoran, was played in warm and humid conditions.
Against a strong and disciplined Dublin team the Kilmeena girls struggled to get into the game in the early stages. However with their renowned determination and never give up attitude Kilmeena began to play football. The second half saw the travelling team put under more pressure with Kilmeena picking off some excellent scores.
Both teams deserve credit for the manner and sportsmanship in which they played.
The game was won by Templeogue Synge Street.
Thank you, to Templeogue Synge Street ladies club for coming to Kilmeena. This was an enjoyable experience for both clubs.
