Kilmeena were away to Louisburgh for this their final Under 12 Group C game of 2015. The game itself was a ‘one-sided’ affair; with Kilmeena pretty much dominating from start to finish.
A strong wind, blowing diagonally throughout the match made for a somewhat scrappy contest. Kilmeena got on the scoreboard first, with the opening point coming from Daniel O’Malley (Captain). Ben Lennon added another to make it 2 points to no score at the end of the first quarter.
Aided (somewhat) by the diagonal wind, Kilmeena added 4 more points to their tally in the second quarter. For Louisburgh, it was proving a difficult evening; for although they did create a few chances, they failed to convert. Their efforts were continuously thwarted by a combination of Milo McManus - who was having a great game for Kilmeena at half-back -and Brian Durkan; who’s blocking and fetching nullified Louisburgh’s attack. The Kilmeena defensive effort, including subs Rory Nolan and Sean Gallagher can be very satisfied with their evenings work.
Colin Hastings came on in the third quarter and bagged Kilmeena’s first goal. This was followed shortly afterwards by a goal from Ben Lennon. At the other end, Louisburgh’s efforts were finally rewarded with a point.
The final quarter saw Ciaran Kilcoyne rattle the net for Kilmeena’s third goal.
In the end, this was another facile victory for Kilmeena.
The Under 12 coaches & management look forward to seeing the boys continue their sporting progress through the Under 11 and Under 13 grades in the coming months.
Well done to all the lads for their efforts and commitment over the past 4 months.

Match Report - U12 Girls
Kilmeena u12 Girls 4– 6 (24)
Davitts u12 Girls 5- 5 (26)
The Kilmeena U12 Girls travelled to Ballindine to play Davitts last evening Monday 13th of July.
The Captain for this game was Rachel Gibbons, who plays U12, and also at u14 level.
Kilmeena started the game brilliantly, being first to the ball and in turn taking well executed scores. The Home side were threatening throughout the first two quarters but Kilmeena Girls were able to negate their efforts.
As in most games the home side were going to mount a challenge, with this came the loss of two of our key forwards, Emma Murray & Ashling Hoban who were fantastic on the night, both unfortunately picked up injuries during the game which turned out to be the turning point, in the final two quarters this came as a reality with Davits tacking on good scores. But Kilmeena persisted with good use of possession in getting the ball into scoreable positions with some success, but the home side defended well.
It turned out to be a close finish, and in fairness to the girls they really worked hard all over the pitch but the home side put in a stronger finish which ultimately decided the final outcome of the game, well done Davitts.
Cul Camp starts Monday the 20th of July, we would encourage all girls and boys to participate if possible.
Well done to all the Players, Management & Parents who car pooled

Kilmeena V Islandeady – Monday 13th July, 2015.
Kilmeena had home advantage for this encounter with Islandeady.
This game was a ‘one-sided’ affair; with Kilmeena completely dominant in the first two quarters. The scoreline read 4-20 to 0-0, in favour of the Kilmeena boys, at half time.
The third quarter was a little more competitive; with Islandeady registering their first point to a goal for Kilmeena. In the final quarter, Kilmeena reasserted their dominance, to outscore Islandeady by 2-5 to 1-2.
In the end, this was a facile victory for this Kilmeena team but one which will have done little in terms of player learning or development, for either team.
As is often said, ‘you can only play the team in front of you’ and I guess that is what Kilmeena did!!
Final Score: Kilmeena; 7 - 25, Islandeady; 1 - 2.
Well done to all the players and subs from both teams.
