As part of the ongoing Club Development Plan compiled last year, the second issue of the annual Club’s Newsletter is in the process of being prepared for publication before Christmas.
The purpose of the publication is to put on record a summary of club related events as they occurred during 2015. Last year’s ISSUE proved very popular in this regard, and no doubt this present copy will prove to be just as appealing.
While last year’s issue dealt with local events, it is proposed to include submissions from the Kilmeena diaspora, dotted around the globe, in this year's and future editions of the newsletter. Therefore, we invite members of our community abroad, to furnish us with articles, photos, comments, etc., - not necessarily G.A.A. affairs - that you may be engaged with in your new adopted society, for inclusion in this year’s publication.
We would love to hear from you:
Send you submissions, ASAP, to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
The Kilmeena U13 Girls travelled to play Parke U13 girls home ground on Sunday afternoon 8th of Nov. The game was played on a wet and wintery afternoon and in fairness to both teams they made the best of it, and put on a good display. The Kilmeena captain for the game was Keeley Hastings, a depleted Kilmeena team were missing some key players on the day and as a result the home side dominated the early exchanges which allowed them to finish the game strongly. Well done to Parke who were worthy winners and the best of luck to you in your next game.
Great credit is due to all the Kilmeena girls who turned up on the day and put in a huge effort. This was the last game for the 2015 season and we would like to thank the Players, Parents who car pooled, & Management for all their efforts during the year.
It must be noted however organising and training the girl’s teams is very enjoyable and rewarding, but it takes quite an effort for all involved. As we roll on into a new year we urgently need more people to get involved and help out with the various teams otherwise the further growth and development of Kilmeena Ladies GAA Club will not continue.
Presentation night for all underage takes place on Friday night the 20th of November at the Mill Times Hotel @ 7.00 pm, everybody is welcome.

Dear Club Members/Parents.
As you know, Kilmeena G.A.A. Club have embarked on a development programme in an effort to substantially improve the facilities at our Club. We will be developing a new playing pitch, to cater for all our underage teams, alongside this we intend to develop an all-weather training area, running alongside the main pitch and we will also construct a kicking wall for all players to hone their skills. A building will be constructed alongside the kicking wall, to incorporate two dressing rooms, a small indoor training area (gym) and storage facilities for the mobile goalposts and machinery.
We submitted an application for funding to the Sports Capital Fund and we were very fortunate to receive €80,000 towards the cost of this project. The, overall cost of the project will be in the vicinity of €120,000, which leaves a shortfall of €40.000, which the club will have to raise. We have the capability and the ability, with your help and continued support, to raise the necessary funding without putting too much pressure on the club or its members.
The National Club draw is an initiative by the G.A.A at National level to support clubs. The total amount of monies raised from this draw will remain in the club.
The tickets cost €10 each, with 5 tickets per book. This year we have decided to ask each Club member/Householder to take a book in an effort to maximize sales and to share the workload. I am asking that each household/club member would make a huge effort to sell a book of tickets.
I am acutely aware of how difficult it is to have finance in order to meet the needs of daily living and, more especially, when rearing children. l am asking you, if you possibly can, to sell the complete book and return the names and the cash to the club officers before the 30th of November 2015.
Please contact Padraic Moore, Treasurer, 087 2861190, Paul Ryan, Secretary, 087 2809524, Willie Keaveney, Chairman, 086 2592837.
Thank you for supporting this project, and when complete, please remember that it will be your children and grandchildren who will benefit from it.
Willie Keaveney
Chairman
Following on the conclusion of U12 girls competitions for 2015 we recently had a gathering at the Clubhouse for this year panel of players to thank them for their commitment and effort during the year.
There were a number of acknowledgements to be made, Firstly there was a presentation of Polo shirts to the panel which was kindly donated by Walter Halloran of the’’ Big Tree Pub’’.
Due to circumstances beyond his control Walter was unable to attend on the evening, but on behalf of the management of the Team and Kilmeena GAA Club we would like to take this opportunity in sincerely thanking Walter for his kind offer of sponsorship of the Polo shirts which is very much appreciated by everybody involved, earlier this year we also wish to thank Molloy Shellfish for sponsorship of the girls football kit.
We would encourage all Club members to support our sponsors.
This Year we incorporated a skills test into our training schedule the first of which took place at the beginning of the season and at the end, the test is a good measurement of players skills as they develop throughout the year.
The Winner of this competition was Ashling Hoban who was presented with a kit bag and certificate by the U12 Manager Ollie Mulch one, well done Ashling.
And finally a big thank you to all the parents who car pooled and supported the players throughout the year, and also the management for the work they have done during the season.
